Job Description
Chemical Solutions Corporation has an excellent contract position available in Vancouver, BC. This is a 3-6 month contract opportunity that can turn permanent for an exemplary candidate.
This individual will develop new products, work with production personnel to develop and optimize processes of current and new products, and will insure product meets specifications during formulation and scale-up to production.
R&D SYNTHESIS CHEMIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
The individual will set up, work up and analyze organic reactions on small (<10g) and large scale (Up to 5 Kg). Production tasks would range from R&D scale to Pilot Batch (50-5000 grams of products/precursors). Organic chemistry experience and solid record keeping skill are a plus.
Lab responsibilities include, but are not limited to: synthesis, column purification, basic analytical, wet chemistry, general lab work
Efficiently perform and document chemical reactions and purifications utilized to prepare intermediates and finished goods
Understanding and operation abilities of the following instrumentation: pH, FTIR, UV-Vis, NMR, MS, HPLC, titrations, column chromatography, wet chemistry
Accurately collects, records, and communicates very detailed experimental data. Daily lab testing, accurate notebook and record keeping of research and QC & R&D results.
Communicates to supervisor in a timely manner the status of projects and barriers that could hinder project success
Work as a team member with internal departments to efficiently release product, resolve problems, and support sales
Operates test equipment and follow procedures, as well as update or write procedures
Utilize problem solving techniques to provide solutions and recommendations on product issues
Completes tasks on time, and effectively manages time
Serves as positive example in laboratory safety, and follows all safe work practices and procedures
R&D SYNTHESIS CHEMIST REQUIREMENTS:
A PhD degree in Synthetic and /or Organic Chemistry and 1-3 years related work experience or the equivalent.
Strong skills using Microsoft Office software.
Goal-oriented individual with well-developed communication, organizational and computer skills.
Good planning, organizing and interpersonal skills and can adapt easily to change.
Must be self-starter who works well independently or in a team environment with peers and customers.
